Welcome
Seahaven Academy is a small but ambitious school for 11-16 year olds.
We have a proud history serving the families of Newhaven and surrounding areas and our school is renowned for its welcoming and inclusive approach.
As a part of United Learning, we take seriously our mission to bring out the ‘best in everyone’. This means that we work incredibly hard to ensure that students not only receive the best education possible, but also the best pastoral care to allow them to achieve exceptional outcomes and to succeed in their adult lives.
We are ideally situated with the inspiration of views over the English Channel and towards the Seven Sisters Country Park. We are within easy reach of Eastbourne and Brighton and enjoy excellent partnerships with United Learning schools and across East Sussex.
With a rigorous approach to behaviour and learning, we have high expectations of all our students. We believe that every student at Seahaven Academy, wherever they come from, whatever they have achieved in the past, should be able to exceed expectations in their time with us and look back on their time at our school with happiness and pride.
Students are always the best ambassadors for their school and so we would be delighted to welcome you to meet them and see our whole school community in action.
Vision
At Seahaven Academy we challenge our students to think big and aim high, to be respectful and compassionate towards others and to see themselves as an essential part of the local and global community.
We have high expectations of our students and of ourselves and are committed to fulfilling the United Learning mission of bringing out ‘the best in everyone’.
We ensure that students not only receive the best education possible, but also the best pastoral care to allow them to achieve exceptional outcomes.
We want Seahaven students to be outstanding in whatever they do, academically and socially, as confident, creative and determined young people, ready to flourish in our evolving world.
Our ethos is that every student at Seahaven Academy, wherever their talents lie, feels that they achieved their ambitions in their time with us. We want our students to look back on their years at Seahaven with happiness and pride. Students are always the best ambassadors for their school. We will be delighted to welcome you to visit us and see our school community in action.
Settling in at Seahaven has been easy. Staff are helpful and the Senior Team is supportive. The fact that Seahaven is a small school means I have been able to get to know staff and pupils very quickly. I am able to positively impact on the learning of the pupils in a disruption-free classroom.
Nicola Stokes, Head of Maths
Coming to Seahaven Academy was one of the best life choices I’ve ever made. A fresh new building, fantastic staff and students and, on a sunny day, a million pound view you have to see to believe. Every day is different and the fun you can have is like no other place I have worked in, and that’s just with the students. I give Seahaven Academy ∞ out of 100 (there’s one for the maths dept).
Ollie Funnell, Teaching Assistant
I settled in straight away at Seahaven. Everyone is friendly, supportive and only too happy to help people out – we’re one big team. Everyone is working towards the same goal and United Learning is the same; it’s all about the best education possible for our students.
Phoebe Stow, Teacher
The teachers always make sure you know what to do and that you can do it to your best standard.
It’s safe, friendly and you’re really well looked after.
The school is really well organised. Roll-call in the mornings is really good for getting everything ready.
The teachers make the lessons fun and make sure everyone has a say in their learning.
The Binary Behaviour policy makes a big difference in lessons. If someone is distracting you they will be removed.
This is the best school because you get rewarded for doing the right things!
The teachers are kind and they look after you.
