At Seahaven Academy, Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) provides students with a strong academic foundation while supporting their personal development and well-being. These important years are designed to inspire a love of learning, build confidence, and prepare students for success in Key Stage 4 and beyond.
Our broad and balanced curriculum allows students to study a wide range of subjects, including English, mathematics, science, humanities, languages, technology, the arts, and physical education. Through high-quality teaching, students develop essential knowledge and skills while being encouraged to think critically, solve problems creatively, and become independent learners.
To ensure that every student is appropriately supported and challenged, students are taught within a range of sets and streams. This enables teachers to tailor learning to students' individual needs, providing the right level of support, stretch, and challenge so that all learners can achieve success. Throughout the academic year, students complete assessments at key points and these provide valuable information about their progress. Following these assessments, sets and streams are reviewed to ensure students are learning at the most appropriate academic level, with additional support or challenge implemented where needed to help every student thrive.
We believe that success is about more than academic achievement alone. Throughout Key Stage 3, students are supported to develop the values of respect, resilience, responsibility, kindness, confidence, and ambition. Through our pastoral care, enrichment opportunities, leadership roles, and wider school experiences, students grow into well-rounded young people who are ready to make a positive contribution to their communities.
Key Stage 3 also provides an opportunity for students to discover their interests, talents, and aspirations. As they progress through Years 7, 8, and 9, they are supported in making informed decisions about their future pathways and GCSE options. We have high expectations for every student and are committed to ensuring that all young people are challenged, supported, and encouraged to achieve their very best.
