Key Stage 4 Parent Information

In Key Stage 4, students build upon the knowledge, skills and experiences developed during Key Stage 3. All students follow carefully designed pathways that meets their individual academic needs while ensuring access to a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum.

Curriculum Pathways

EBacc pathway: students study the core curriculum plus Geography or History, and also French at GCSE level. In addition, one other optional subject is chosen.
Attainment pathway: students study the core curriculum plus Geography or History. Most students will study French (if appropriate) and one other optional subject choice.

Supporting Success

We recognise that Years 10 and 11 are crucial stages in a student's educational journey. To support both students and families, we provide a range of Information Evenings, Parent Consultation Evenings, and examination-focused support events throughout Key Stage 4.

These sessions are designed to equip parents and carers with practical guidance and strategies to help their child succeed, develop independent study habits, and prepare confidently for examinations.

Topics commonly covered include:

When should revision begin?
What are the most effective revision techniques?
How should students manage their time outside of school?
What does successful revision look like?
How can parents and carers provide effective support?
What are Period 6 sessions and SAS Camps, and how do they benefit students?

Academic and Pastoral Support

Through our comprehensive pastoral and academic support programme, every student is fully prepared for both mid-year assessments and GCSE examinations.

Form Tutors are the first point of contact for students and families. Working closely with the Directors and Heads of Year, they are committed to ensuring every student receives the support, encouragement and guidance they need to achieve their full potential.

Careers Education and Future Pathways

A strong and well-established careers programme is embedded throughout the Key Stage 4 curriculum, helping students make informed decisions about their future education, training and career pathways.

We work closely with colleges, universities and external partners to provide a wide range of opportunities, including:

Transition projects
Taster days
One-day release courses
Attendance at Year 10 and Year 11 Parent Consultation Evenings
Careers assemblies
College and university open days and open evenings
