Dance

At Seahaven, our Dance curriculum is designed to inspire creativity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation of dance as a powerful form of expression, communication, and physical activity. We aim to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and artistic understanding required to engage with dance both as performers and creators, enabling them to thrive alongside their peers locally, nationally, and globally.

Through our Dance curriculum, we strive to:

  • Foster a passion for dance by exposing students to a diverse range of dance styles, genres, and cultural influences.
  • Encourage creativity and self-expression, allowing students to communicate ideas, emotions, and experiences through movement.
  • Develop physical, technical, and performance skills that enable students to perform with confidence, control, and artistry.
  • Promote an understanding of dance as an art form and its significance in different historical, social, and cultural contexts.
  • Instil core values such as resilience, commitment, collaboration, respect, and self-discipline, supporting students' personal growth both inside and outside the classroom.

Our curriculum ensures a broad and balanced learning experience by offering:

  • Opportunities to explore, create, perform, and evaluate dance through individual, paired, and group work.
  • Exposure to a variety of dance styles and professional works that broaden students' cultural awareness and appreciation of the performing arts.
  • A supportive and inclusive environment where all students can develop confidence, creativity, and a sense of achievement.
  • Practical experiences that promote physical well-being, coordination, fitness, and body awareness while encouraging positive attitudes towards movement and healthy lifestyles.

We aim to inspire students to:

  • Take creative risks and embrace new challenges with confidence and curiosity.
  • Develop their own artistic voice while valuing the contributions and perspectives of others.
  • Recognise the benefits of dance for physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
  • Apply the skills of communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and reflection in all areas of learning and life.

Dance at Seahaven goes beyond the development of performance skills; it nurtures expressive, resilient, and reflective young people who understand the value of creativity, culture, and movement. Our goal is to empower every student to realise their potential, celebrate their individuality, and develop a lifelong engagement with dance and the performing arts.
