Travel and Tourism

The intent of the Travel and Tourism curriculum is to provide learners with a rich understanding of one of the world’s fastest-growing industries and its impact on economies, societies, and the environment. Our curriculum equips students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to succeed in a sector that offers diverse and exciting career opportunities.

The Travel and Tourism curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity and ambition by exploring a wide range of UK and global destinations, customer needs, and industry trends, while equipping learners with transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and digital literacy to prepare them for further study and employment. It promotes cultural awareness and diversity, fostering respect, empathy, and appreciation of different communities and traditions, and embeds sustainability and responsibility to ensure learners understand the importance of ethical and environmentally conscious tourism.

By providing engaging, real-world learning opportunities and supporting clear pathways of progression, the curriculum builds confidence, broadens horizons, and prepares students for future success in higher education, apprenticeships, or careers within tourism, hospitality, events, and business.

The Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Travel and Tourism is ideal for you if you are a pre-16 student working at level 1 or level 2 and would like to find out more about the travel and tourism sector. This course offers a practical introduction to life and work in the travel and tourism sector. The qualification, which is 120 GLH, is the same size and level as a GCSE.
